Here at EngineQuest this is how we test our oil pump timing covers. The oil temperature is set at 160˚F. This is the temperature band that keeps that temperature there. What I’m going to do is show you how we do this. Here is our oil pressure gauge, and this also is how we check the bypass valve to make sure that it doesn’t go over a certain pressure.

Ok here we go. The first thing is the bypass valve. There is the stop at 80. Ok so 80 lbs. is where it’s at, that means the bypass valve is opening. Ok, from that point I’m going to turn around and I’m going to turn the valve in the back which releases the pressure for a running pressure to simulate the pressure that’s in a motor. There it is right there, 50 to 60 lbs. Our rate is 45 to 60 max. This is how we test all of our pumps here at EngineQuest.
